Hoosier Boys State is not a new program.  Beginning in 1937, the American Legion and the board of directors of the Hoosier Boys’ State Corporation have consistently strived to benefit not only the youth of Indiana but, too, its community of citizens by promoting good citizenship and patriotism.  Our purpose is not to make politicians of our young men but to help create an awareness of the issues facing our government and the impact each decision has on individuals--the importance of the political forces in our daily lives that makes our form of government work.  It is our goal to provide young men the opportunity to learn about the political and governmental processes in our democratic society.
